Police Kill IMN Member As They Protest Govt Negligence On Health Of Detained Leader In Kad

At least one member of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria has been shot dead by police when they attacked a peaceful protest by members calling for the need for serious medical attention by the detained leader of the Movement Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky.
Members of the Movement of were on a peaceful protest along Kano road by Ahmadu Bello Way when police clamped down on them without any warning shooting with life bullets and firing teargas randomly.
Police were seen by members of the public aiming and shooting at unarmed protesters with life bullets thereby injuring several people and creating tension.
Members of the Movement shared a typed release to members of the public that was signed by Aliyu Umar of the Kaduna center of the Movement calling for urgent action on the ill-health of their detained leader.
Part of the statement reads “Apart from losing the mechanical function of an arm he also completely lost an eye while the other eye is left medically unattended by the authorities keeping him in illegal detention and health torture for over two years now.
“Following this deliberate act of torture using his health situation, the condition of the only remaining eye of the revered leader of the IMN, which sight is already weakened, has seriously deteriorated and is forced to be living in pains and difficulties.”
The release also called for the unconditional release of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky to attend to his health saying “Following these acts of abuse of fundamental rights of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, as well as a violation of all known laws concerning the health of those in detention by the Nigerian government, we the members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria hereby call for the immediate and unconditional release of our leader to attend to his health.”
It finally called on all and sundry to support the call for the release of the IMN leader. “We call on all seekers of fairness and justice among groups and individuals to lend their precious voices against these acts of illegality and atrocities being meted upon the IMN leader and his followers by the Nigerian authorities.”
